Our Association, founded in February 1996, is a humanitarian, non political and non profit organisation.
Members are mainly from Switzerland, France and Africa. Everybody can be a member, without distinction from race, sex and religion.
The O.A.M.S.S.L has undertaken since it's beginning, to realize several short and long-term projects (click here to see the realized actions for now). Our first goal is the rehabilitation of a hospital (click here to see pictures). This hospital is located in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ex-Zaïre), more precisely in Gombe-Matadi in the Low-Congo province, near Angola, 160 miles from Kinshasa.
The hospital is composed of 6 buildings and was built during the colonial era. It hasn't been working for 10 years because the lack of materials and medicines.
For more than one year, a physician try to face. His staff has been unpaid for months and has not the sufficient medical formation. The patients have to bring themselves all the needed medicines for the treatment and the diagnostic. The medicines they find on the market are often expired.
75% of the poputation of the village is illiterate and live on farming. The travelling of the people and the flow of the products is very hard because the deplorable state of the roads, especially during the rainseason.
The reabilitation of the hospital would help a population who, currently has no hospital facilities available.
